PlateCheck is a food glycemic load advisor built by Axion AI LLC. It uses on-device AI to recognize food on your plate and provide glycemic load information. This policy explains how the app handles your data.
Short version: The app uses your camera to identify food. Images are never stored or transmitted. We have no account for you and collect no personal data.
| Data Type | Why | Stored? | Transmitted? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Camera | Capture image of food plate for on-device food recognition (TFLite ML model) | Not stored — frames processed in memory and discarded | Never |
| Scan history | Optional — display recent scan results in-app | Locally on device (you can clear this in settings) | Never |
| Sparks wallet | Local usage tracking for pricing engine (no personal data) | Locally on device (hardware-encrypted) | Never |
| Advertising identifiers | Served by Google AdMob if you opt into the ad-supported tier | Managed by Google AdMob SDK | To Google AdMob — see Section 5 |
| Permission | Purpose | Optional? |
|---|---|---|
| Camera | Photograph your plate for food recognition | No — core functionality requires camera access |
| Photo Library (optional) | Analyze a saved photo instead of taking a new one | Yes — you can use the camera instead |
Food recognition is performed by a TensorFlow Lite model bundled with the app. All inference runs locally on your device. No image data leaves your device. The model outputs only a food category label and confidence score — it does not capture, store, or upload photos.
Scan history (food label + glycemic load result + timestamp) is stored locally on your device. This data is erased if you uninstall the app. We have no access to it.
Your Sparks wallet is stored using hardware-bound encrypted storage. It is bound to your device and is not accessible to us.
PlateCheck offers an ad-supported tier where you may view advertisements in exchange for unlimited use. If you opt into this tier, ads are served by Google AdMob.
When AdMob serves ads, it may collect:
This data is collected by Google and governed by Google's Privacy Policy. We do not receive individual user data from AdMob — only aggregate revenue reporting.
Opting out of personalized ads: You can opt out of personalized advertising in your device settings (iOS: Settings → Privacy → Tracking; Android: Settings → Google → Ads). Ads may still be shown but will not be personalized.
No ads if you upgrade: Users who purchase a Sparks pack or subscription will not see ads.
PlateCheck does not use:
In-app purchases are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play Store. We never see your payment information.
PlateCheck is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Because we do not collect or transmit personal data, there is nothing stored on our servers to access, correct, or delete. To remove locally stored data, uninstall the app. To opt out of AdMob personalized ads, use your device settings as described in Section 5.
This policy will be updated when we add features that change how data is handled. The effective date at the top of this page will reflect any changes.
